Early Life and Education
Yulia Kropyvna was born into a family of doctors and raised in a medical environment. She pursued her education at the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where she earned a degree in journalism. Kropyvna also participated in the Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX), a prestigious exchange program that allowed her to study in the United States. Her proficiency in English opened doors to further opportunities in international communication.
Media and Consulting Career
Before entering the political arena, Kropyvna had a successful career in the media and communications industry. She held leadership positions in analytical centers and worked as a partner at New Center Consulting. Kropyvna also showcased her creativity as a producer and screenwriter for documentary films, including Sergei Bukovsky's "Alive." Her involvement in documentaries such as "Name Your Name by Letters" reflected her interest in storytelling and social issues.
Political Engagement
Kropyvna's political journey began in 2010 when she joined the organizing committee of the Odessa International Film Festival. She later worked for the venture capital fund TA Venture, gaining valuable insights into investment and business practices. Her political aspirations were ignited in 2014 when she assumed the role of press secretary for the UKROP party.
Service in the Ukrainian Parliament
In 2019, Kropyvna made a significant shift in her career by joining the Servant of the People party as a parliamentary candidate. Elected to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament), she became the Deputy Chairman of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction. Kropyvna's expertise in communication and social issues led her to the position of Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy.
International Engagement
Alongside her domestic responsibilities, Kropyvna has actively participated in international forums. She holds the position of Deputy Member of the Permanent Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Her advocacy for animal welfare and humanitarian values has led her to join the Inter-Factional Union "Humane Country," an initiative promoted by UAnimals to protect animals from mistreatment and promote compassion.
