Early Life and Education

Evghenia Ostapciuc was born on October 19, 1947, in the village of Fântânița, Soroca District, Moldova. She completed her education at the Chișinău Trade College and the Moscow Institute of National Economy (Plekhanov Institute) in Zamoskvorechye, Moscow.

Career in Business

From 1966 to 1988, Ostapciuc worked as an engineer-technologist, deputy director, and director of the catering trust in Soroca. From 1988 to 1995, she served as the general director of the Soroca Trade Administration. Subsequently, from 1995 to 1998, she was the deputy director of the "Logos" Association in Chișinău.

Political Career

In March 1998, Ostapciuc was elected to the Parliament of Moldova on the list of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM). She served as the secretary of the PCRM parliamentary faction and a member of the Standing Commission on Social Protection, Healthcare, and Family.

In March 2001, Ostapciuc was re-elected to the Parliament of Moldova on the PCRM list. On March 20, 2001, she was elected as the Chairman of the Parliament of Moldova, a position she held until March 24, 2005. From 2005 to 2009, she continued to serve as a member of Parliament and the Parliament's Permanent Bureau.

Political Affiliation

Ostapciuc has been a member of the Communist Party since the 1960s. In the 1980s and 1990s, she was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Moldova and one of the founders of the PCRM. She served as the head of the Soroca District Committee of the PCRM and a member of the Political Executive Committee of the PCRM Central Committee.

Decorations and Honors

For her long and distinguished service, Ostapciuc has been awarded several honors and decorations. In 2007, she received the Order of the Republic of Moldova for her contributions to legislation and her active organizational and public work. In 2002, she was also awarded the Order of the Commonwealth by the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States.
