Early Career

Russian tennis player Evgeniya Rodina began her professional career in 2004 at the age of 15. Competing in International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments, she made her debut in a 25000-dollar event in Moscow, qualifying for the main draw. Despite losing early on, she managed to earn a world ranking for the first time.

International Breakthrough

After a six-month hiatus, Rodina returned to the court and reached the quarter-finals of a 10000-dollar tournament in Croatia. A week later, she advanced to the final of another event, winning all her matches in straight sets. Rodina continued her strong form, reaching the quarter-finals of a 25000-dollar tournament in August, losing to fellow Russian Vasilisa Bardina. She surpassed this result the following week, defeating Israeli Yevgenia Savransky in the quarter-finals of the Balashikha tournament.

WTA Success

In October 2005, Rodina made her WTA debut without going through qualifying. She reached the quarter-finals, an impressive achievement given that she had not played in any tournaments with a prize money of more than 25000 dollars up to that point. Rodina continued to qualify for increasingly prestigious events, including a 50000-dollar championship in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a 75000-dollar tournament in Indonesia. By the end of the year, she had climbed 90 places in the rankings to 233rd.

Grand Slam Experience

In 2007, Rodina qualified for her first WTA main draw at a Grand Slam event but lost in the second round of the Australian Open. She experienced more success at the 2008 French Open and US Open, winning her first-round matches in both tournaments. At Wimbledon, she reached the third round, her best performance in a Grand Slam to date.

WTA Rankings and Current Status

Rodina's success on the WTA Tour helped her climb the rankings, reaching a career-high of 74th in February 2011. Despite a slight dip to 83rd, there is no doubt that Rodina has the potential to improve her position further, continuing her rise in the world of tennis.
