Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle, a German cross-country skier, began her career with the German national team in 1998. Her achievements in skiing include:

Silver medal in the individual sprint at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics

Gold medal in the relay at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics

Silver medal in the relay at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics

Multiple podium finishes at the World Championships, including a gold, a bronze, and three silver medals

Twelve podium finishes at the World Cup, including three victories, four second-place finishes, and five third-place finishes

Doping Allegation in Turin

Prior to the 2006 Turin Olympics, Sachenbacher-Stehle was among 12 athletes suspended from competition for five days due to elevated hemoglobin levels in her blood. However, subsequent investigations revealed that the elevated levels were not the result of doping but rather the body's adaptation to high-altitude conditions.

Transition to Biathlon

In 2012, Sachenbacher-Stehle transitioned to biathlon. Her most significant achievement in this sport was a victory in the relay at a World Cup event in Sochi.

Doping Disqualification

During the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, Sachenbacher-Stehle's doping sample from the mass start event tested positive for a banned substance. As a result:

Her result in the mass start was annulled

Her result in the mixed relay was annulled

She was banned for two years by the International Biathlon Union (IBU), effective from February 17, 2014

Sachenbacher-Stehle initially planned to appeal the IBU's decision but later announced her retirement from competition on November 30, 2014.
