Faiq Agayev: Azerbaijani Pop Legend

Faiq Agayev is a renowned Azerbaijani pop singer and a People's Artist of Azerbaijan who has graced the professional stage since 1988.

Early Career and Achievements

Making his debut at the "Baku Autumn '88" music competition, Agayev's exceptional talent was recognized with a first-degree diploma. His success continued with victories at the Republican "Golden Autumn '89" competition, the International "Vitebsk '90" contest, and the International "Yalta '92" television song competition where he earned a diploma.

In 1993, Agayev graduated with honors from the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, majoring in Musical Theater Actor. Following his graduation, he triumphed at the International Claudia Shulzhenko Retro Song Contest "Kharkov '95" and the "Golden Hit" competition in Mogilev in 1996.

Soloist Career and Album Releases

From 1996, Agayev became a soloist with the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio. His impressive repertoire expanded further as he joined the Azerbaijan State Mugham Theater as a soloist from 2012 to 2013.

Agayev's prolific recording career commenced in 1995 with the release of his debut album, "Ola bilmez" (It Can't Be). This was followed by a series of successful albums: "Seni evvelmir" (Nobody Can Replace You) in 1996, "Vefasızım" (My Unfaithful One) in 1998, "Faiq Agayev - Seçimlər" (Faiq Agayev - Favorites) in 1999, "Minilliyin sonu" (End of the Millennium) in 2000, and "Tam məxfi" (Top Secret) in 2002.

Awards and Recognition

Agayev's extraordinary talent has been widely acclaimed through prestigious awards. He was presented with a "Humay" Award in 1998 for "Concert of the Year." In 1999, he received the "Grand" Award as "Singer of the Year" and the "Humay" Award for "Music Video of the Year" for his hit song "Dedi."

By decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, Agayev was bestowed the honorary title of "Honored Artist of Azerbaijan" on October 28, 2000.

In the following years, Agayev's honors continued with the "Qızıl Mikrofon" (Golden Microphone) National Award in 2000 for "Singer of the Year" and the "Grand" National Award in 2001 for "Singer of the Year," "Concert of the Year," and "Album of the Year."

Record-Breaking Concert and National Jury Member

Agayev made history in Azerbaijan's show business scene when he performed a five-day solo concert entitled "FAetirAF" at the country's central concert venue, the Heydar Aliyev Palace, from January 9 to 13, 2007.

On September 17, 2008, Agayev received the prestigious title of "People's Artist of Azerbaijan" by decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Agayev continued to captivate audiences with his new songs, including "Bal Kimi" (Like Honey), "Hiss Et" (Feel It), "Odlanacaqsan" (You Will Burn), "Billahi" (I Swear to God), and "Elvida" (Goodbye).

In 2012, he presented a four-day sold-out solo concert called "VIDA" at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. Affectionately known as "Mr. Golden Hit" among his devoted fans, Agayev has performed in over 300 solo concerts.

Agayev also served as a member of the Azerbaijani national jury for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 and 2015, further solidifying his esteemed position in the international music industry.
