Early Life and Career
Marat Irismetov was born on February 10, 1981, in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. His parents were ethnic Uzbeks. Irismetov began playing football at a young age, honing his skills in the streets and local academies of Chymyknet.
Professional Debut
In 1999, at the age of 18, Irismetov signed his first professional contract with FC Torpedo Moscow, thanks to the efforts of football agent Konstantin Sarsaniya. However, he struggled to make an impact at the Russian club and spent most of his time with the reserve team.
Kazakhstan International
Returning to Kazakhstan in 2001, Irismetov joined Mangystau Oblast. He caught the attention of coach Vladimir Fomichev, who named him to the Kazakhstan youth team. The team went on to win the bronze medal at the East Asian Games in Osaka, Japan.
Success at Irtysh
In 2003, Irismetov moved to Irtysh Pavlodar, where he played alongside Sergei Timofeev. The duo formed a formidable defensive partnership, leading Irtysh to back-to-back Kazakhstan Premier League titles in 2002 and 2003. Irismetov made his full international debut for Kazakhstan in April 2004 under coach Sergei Timofeev.
Time at Kairat and Tobol
Following his success at Irtysh, Irismetov played for FC Kairat from 2005 to 2006. He then joined FC Tobol in 2007, where he won two Kazakhstan Cup titles and the Kazakhstan Premier League in 2010.
Return to Ordabasy
In November 2010, Irismetov returned to his hometown club, FC Ordabasy. With Ordabasy, he won the Kazakhstan Cup twice more and the Kazakhstan Super Cup in 2012.
Later Career
Irismetov played for several other clubs in his later career, including Sunkar, Tobol (again), and Kaisar. He eventually retired from professional football in 2016 after playing for Ordabasy once more.
