Farid Dadash: Renowned Geologist and Leading Scientist
Early Life and EducationFarid Dadash was born on January 12, 1930, in Baku, Azerbaijan. His academic journey began in 1947 when he enrolled in the geology and exploration faculty at the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute. As a student, he excelled in research and earned a commendation from the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR for his work on the geological structure of the Baku archipelago.
Academic Career and Research
Following his graduation in 1952, Dadash joined the Geology Department at the Institute of Geology of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences as a senior research fellow. From 1977 to 1984, he held the position of Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs at the institute. Dadash's research focused on the geology of oil fields and the development of innovative methods for studying gas components in the environment.
Contributions to Geological Sciences
Dadash is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of the Baku school of geologists specializing in gas. His research on the gas-bearing areas of Azerbaijan yielded significant discoveries, including the identification of zones of gas accumulation that later led to the discovery of major gas-condensate fields such as Bahar, Bulla-Deniz, and Shah-Deniz.
International Collaborations and Leadership
Dadash played a pivotal role in fostering international collaborations in the field of geology. He participated in joint projects with prominent foreign companies such as BP/Statoil, BP/Amoco, and Howard Energy. In 1998, he was elected President of the Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists, a branch of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Dadash's contributions to geological sciences have been widely acknowledged. He received the Jubilee Medal "For Valiant Labor" in 1970, the Order of the Badge of Honor in 1981, and the State Prize of Azerbaijan in 2010.
