Early Life and Education
Farzali Aghamaliyev, an Azerbaijani scientist and doctor of biological sciences, was born on February 5, 1936, in the village of Jomardli in the Sisian region of the Armenian SSR. He completed his education in biology at the Azerbaijan State University in 1962.
Academic Career
In 1968, Aghamaliyev defended his dissertation on "Benthic Ciliates on the Western Coast of the Southern Caspian Sea." From 1962 to 1978, he worked at the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR.
In 1977, he successfully defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences on the topic "Free-Living Ciliates of the Caspian Sea." Since 1979, Aghamaliyev has been the Head of the Department of "Invertebrate Zoology" at Baku State University.
Research and Publications
Aghamaliyev is an accomplished scientist who has authored over 130 scientific papers, a monograph, four books, and five methodological guidelines. His research primarily focuses on Protozoology and the fauna and ecology of ciliates in the Caspian Sea. He has made significant contributions to the field by identifying 30 new species of ciliates in the Caspian Sea.
Teaching and Supervision
Aghamaliyev has dedicated himself to teaching and guiding students. He imparts knowledge through subjects such as "Invertebrate Zoology," "Protozoology," "Local Fauna," and "Selected Chapters of Invertebrate Zoology." Under his expert guidance, four candidates of science have successfully completed their studies.
Personal Life
Farzali Aghamaliyev is married and has four children. He is fluent in Azerbaijani, Turkish, and Russian languages.
