Early Life and Military Service
Fazyl Adilbayev, a Kazakh, was born on November 7, 1925, in Balajal Mine, East Kazakhstan. After completing nine years of schooling, he worked as a driller before being drafted into the Red Army in 1943. From May 1944, he fought in the Great Patriotic War as a sergeant in the 1232nd Rifle Regiment of the 370th Rifle Division, 69th Army, 1st Belorussian Front.
Valor and Decorations
On January 29, 1945, Adilbayev's machine gun crew suppressed enemy fire and killed 10 soldiers near Silna-Nowy, Poland, earning him the Order of Glory, 3rd Class. On February 6, while fighting for a bridgehead near Lebus, Germany, he repelled seven enemy counterattacks, destroying three fire emplacements and killing over a dozen fascist soldiers, capturing three prisoners. For his bravery, he was awarded the Order of Glory, 2nd Class.
Heroism at Kunersdorf
On April 16-17, 1945, Adilbayev's crew destroyed two enemy fire points and over a platoon of soldiers during an expansion of a bridgehead on the left bank of the Oder River. Adilbayev stormed into Kunersdorf, throwing a grenade at an enemy machine gun. For his valor, he was awarded the Order of Glory, 1st Class.
Post-War Life and Legacy
Adilbayev was demobilized in 1945. He graduated from the Almaty State Law Institute in 1951 and worked as a senior legal counsel in Ayaguz before his untimely death on January 1, 1975. He was a recipient of all three degrees of the Order of Glory and numerous medals, a testament to his exceptional courage and dedication to his country.
