Early Life and Ancestry

Educational Background

In 1894, Fyodor Nikolaevich Bekovich-Cherkassky graduated from the Elisavetgrad Cavalry School. He furthered his military education by completing the Cavalry Officer School in 1903.

Military Service

World War I

In 1914, Bekovich-Cherkassky served as a commander in the Caucasus. He was promoted to commander of the Tatar Cavalry Regiment in 1916 and later commanded the 2nd Brigade of the Caucasian Native Cavalry Division from October 29, 1916.

Russian Civil War

White Movement

He joined the Volunteer Army and formed mountain forces in the Caucasus in late 1917. On December 8, 1918, he became the commander of the 2nd Brigade of the Circassian Cavalry Division. In February 1919, he was appointed Governor of Kabarda and later became Chief of the Kabarda Cavalry Division on March 17, 1919.

Promotion to General and Emigration

On March 31, 1919, Bekovich-Cherkassky was promoted to Lieutenant General. He served in the Russian Army of General Wrangel until the Crimean evacuation in 1920. He left Crimea on the ship "Korvin" and became a member of the National Liberation Committee of the Mountain Peoples of the North Caucasus in Constantinople, later continuing his involvement in France.
