Early Life and Education
Stanisław Batowski was born in Poland and studied art at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under Ludwig Herterich and Karl von Marr.
Artistic Career in Rome and Egypt
In 1900, Batowski moved to Rome and established his career as an artist. In 1906, he embarked on a journey to Egypt, where he was captivated by the exotic landscapes and created a series of Orientalist paintings, depicting scenes from harems.
Return to Lwów and Notable Commissions
In 1908, Batowski returned to Lwów, where he received a prestigious commission to decorate the Lwów Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His works became some of the first acquisitions for the future foundation of the Lviv Picture Gallery.
World War I and Teaching in Russia
During World War I, Batowski resided in Russia and taught drawing in Rostov-on-Don.
Return to Poland and Later Years
Batowski returned to his homeland in 1918. In 1944, as the Red Army approached Lwów, he left the city and eventually settled in Rzeszów. He passed away in Rzeszów in the same year due to a cerebral hemorrhage.
