Biography of Fernando Delgadillo

Fernando Delgadillo is a Latin American singer and composer who is considered to be the main representative of the folk genre on the contemporary music scene in Mexico. He was born in Naucalpan, Estado de México, Mexico. Fernando began performing in 1986 at "El sapo Cancionero", a place where little-known folk musicians from all over the country tried their skills. Over the next two years, Delgadillo honed his professional skills and started performing regularly.

In 1989, Fernando, along with a group of other musicians and performers, founded the group "SEIMUS" - "Sociedad de Escritores y Músicos Urbanos Subterráneos" (Society of Underground Urban Musicians and Writers). In 1990, the group released their first self-made cassette. In the same year, Delgadillo recorded two more tapes - "Fernando Delgadillo" and "La Cancion Informal". Two more cassettes were released in 1991, and in 1992, Delgadillo released his first compact disc, "Con cierto aire a ti".

Continuing to create new albums regularly, by 1997 Fernando had made his breakthrough at the Beijing International Television Festival. He was the only Spanish-speaking performer at the festival, and several of his songs were even translated into Chinese. In addition to this, Delgadillo was invited to a youth festival in Cuba.

In 1998, Fernando presented his first album to a wider audience when he performed at the Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City. Shortly after, he performed with Silvio Rodríguez, a Cuban musician, during his concert tour in Mexico.

Delgadillo recorded and released his next album, a compilation of old compositions, in Spain. Currently, Fernando lives and works in Mexico, performing in major Mexican theaters and concert halls every month. He draws inspiration for his songs from everyday life, often being referred to as the creator of "informal" songwriting style. Fernando skillfully incorporates complex metaphors into his lyrics, covering a wide range of topics.

Fernando Delgadillo's discography includes notable albums such as "Con cierto aire a ti" (1993), "Crónicas de Bruno del Breñal" and "Desviaciones de la canción informal" (1994), "De vuelos y de sol" (1995), "Primer estrella de la tarde" (1997), "Entre pairos y derivas" and "Hoy ten miedo de mí" (1998), and the revamped version of "De vuelos y de sol" released in 1999. In 1999, Delgadillo started working on the "Febrero 13" project, which resulted in the release of three albums - one in 1999 and two in 2000. In 2001, Fernando recorded the album "Campo de sueños", and three years later, he released two albums - "Matutina" and "Parque Naucalli". Finally, his album "Desde la Isla del olvido" was released in 2009.
