Biography of Fernando Perdomo

Fernando Perdomo was born in the city of Cartagena, Colombia in 1969. He earned a bachelor's degree from La Salle College and graduated from the engineering faculty at the Universidad Javeriana in the capital city, Bogota.

In 1988, Perdomo ran for mayor of his hometown. Although he did not win, this experience sparked his interest in politics. In 1998, he joined the administration of President Andres Pastrana as the Minister of Trade Development. During his tenure, he played a key role in advancing Colombia's trade relations with other countries.

He has served as a professor at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogota and the University of Cartagena. On December 31, 2006, Perdomo successfully escaped and, after six days, made his way back to civilization.
