Biography of Roberto Firmino

Early Career

Roberto Firmino is a Brazilian footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder and forward for Liverpool FC and the Brazilian national team. He began his career playing for Tombense before moving to Figueirense in 2010. In the 2010 season, he played 36 matches and scored 8 goals. His impressive performances caught the attention of Hoffenheim.

Hoffenheim

In January 2011, Firmino signed a contract with Hoffenheim until 2015 for a transfer fee of 4 million euros. He made his debut for the German club on February 26 in a match against Mainz, coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute. His first goal for Hoffenheim came in the 30th round against Eintracht Frankfurt, securing a victory. In the 2010/2011 season, Firmino played 11 matches and scored 3 goals. He continued his strong form in the 2011/2012 season, scoring a brace against Wolfsburg in the 6th round.

Liverpool

On June 24, 2015, it was announced that Firmino would be joining Liverpool FC. The transfer fee of 29 million pounds made him the club's third most expensive signing at that time. He scored his first goal for Liverpool against Manchester City on November 21, 2015. In the 2016/2017 season, he played 35 matches and scored 11 goals.

Bobby Firmino

Firmino is affectionately called "Bobby" by Liverpool fans. He embraced this nickname, saying "Now they call me Bobby Firmino. It's amazing! I like my new name. Keep calling me Bobby!" In the Christmas night of 2016, Firmino was stopped by the police for drunk driving. Despite this incident, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp still included Firmino in the starting lineup for the next match against Stoke City. Firmino scored a goal and helped the team secure a victory. He later apologized, paid a fine, and lost his driving license for a year.

False Nine

Firmino is known for his selfless and team-oriented playing style. He willingly gave up his number 11 jersey to Mohamed Salah and took the number 9 for himself. While he is often referred to as a "false nine," his role is not exactly that. Instead of constantly dropping back to the midfield to receive the ball and make incisive passes, Firmino drops into the center to create space for his teammates and regain possession when his team loses the ball.

International Career

Firmino made his debut for the Brazilian national team on November 12, 2014, in a friendly match against Turkey. He scored his first goal for the national team on November 18, 2014, in a friendly match against Austria.
