Biography of Francesca Miranda

Francesca Miranda, one of five children in her family, was born on August 5th, 1957 in San Salvador. Her mother, Gloria Gonzales de Miranda, was an entrepreneur, while her father, Ruy Cesar Miranda Lupone, was a Spanish-Italian lawyer and politician. Francesca's older sister, Olga Miranda, became a well-known television presenter.

Early Career and Education

Before becoming a designer for the fashion house 'Oscar de la Renta', Miranda studied fashion merchandising at the University of Tampa, Florida. In 1995, she began working for the brand 'Xango' and three years later, she presented a collection of men's clothing under her own name. Establishing herself as a professional in men's fashion, Francesca created 'City People' in 2000, a line of sensual women's clothing. Her 2001 collection was inspired by the works of Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Rise to Prominence

Miranda launched a men's casual streetwear line in 1994, which quickly gained success and earned her an invitation to participate in the prestigious 'Colombiamoda' exhibition, one of the most important fashion events in Latin America. In 1997, Francesca opened her first boutique, 'Francesca Miranda', with a focus on men's clothing. By 2000, the brand expanded, leading to the opening of the flagship store in Barranquilla, Colombia, where the assortment included ready-to-wear women's clothing and evening gowns. 'Francesca Miranda' became one of the leading labels in Colombia, with prospects of winning the hearts of customers worldwide. In 2001, Miranda received an award from Fashion TV Paris for the best runway show at Miami Fashion Week. In the same year, the company opened its second boutique in Bogota, the capital of Colombia. Four years later, another boutique was opened in San Salvador, the hometown of Miranda.

Continued Success

In 2010, Francesca launched her first bridal collection, which received excellent feedback from the American and Canadian markets. Prior to this, she had been creating custom-made wedding dresses. In November 2010, she opened her third store in Cartagena, Colombia, a popular tourist destination. Her stores featured exotic leather handbags for women, decorative home items, and Colombian artworks from local craftsmen. Miranda's design projects are not solely created to be showcased in fashion houses. Her projects are portable while still embodying exquisite taste, elegance, and attention to detail. Francesca aims to unite femininity and comfort in her designs.

Personal Life

After marrying Francisco Jassir in 1983, Miranda moved to her husband's hometown of Barranquilla, where her boutique was opened. Francesca and Francisco have three children together.
