Biography of Francisco Garcia Escalero
Francisco Garcia Escalero, an impoverished Spanish man, was a serial killer who committed 11 murders between 1987 and 1994. In addition to being a murderer, Francisco was also accused of cannibalism and necrophilia. He was born in Madrid, Spain. As a child, Escalero was extremely sickly and withdrawn, and he never received a proper education. His unusual tendencies started to manifest at an early age - as a young boy, Francisco enjoyed walking around the local cemetery.
Escalero's father despised him and regularly abused him. At the age of 16, he was sent to a psychiatric hospital where he resorted to thievery in order to survive. Around the same time, Escalero developed another obsession - he began voyeuristically watching couples and naked women, masturbating in the process. In 1973, Francisco was sent to a correctional center for stealing a motorcycle. He was released in 1975 but soon committed his first serious crime.
Escalero was sentenced to 12 years in prison for participating in the gang rape of a girl in front of her boyfriend. He was released early in 1984 but struggled to find employment and ended up becoming a beggar. One of Francisco's few pastimes became creating incredibly bizarre cocktails with cheap alcohol and various pills. These drinks severely worsened his mental state, and Escalero began exhibiting extreme aggression and unimaginable cruelty.
Soon, Francisco started to experience hallucinations, which led him to start killing people. The voices in his head prompted him to commit his first murder in August 1987 when he killed a prostitute named Paula Martinez. He dismembered and burned her body. In March 1988, Escalero killed another homeless man named Juan. He stabbed him multiple times and then crushed his head with a stone. A few months later, the body of another homeless man was found, severely burned.
Escalero continued to kill many more victims, often engaging in necrophilia or cannibalism. Sometimes, he satisfied his dark desires in graveyards, using deceased bodies as sexual partners. In March 1989, the body of a homeless man named Angel was discovered. The body was meticulously dismembered to prevent fingerprint identification. Two months later, another homeless man, Julio, was found dead. Julio had suffered several stab wounds, burns, and his genitals were severed.
In 1994, the police were alerted by representatives from a local psychiatric hospital that two patients, Francisco Escalero and his friend Victor Luis Criado, had escaped. Criado's body was found two days later, with a crushed skull and severely burned. The police eventually located Escalero, who attempted to commit suicide on the road but only managed to break his leg. In the hospital, Francisco confessed to all the murders and asked the nurses to arrest him. In April 1994, he was finally incarcerated.
In February 1995, Escalero stood trial and was quickly declared insane due to long-standing schizophrenia exacerbated by alcoholism. However, the judges acknowledged that Francisco was extremely dangerous, and he was sent to a maximum-security psychiatric hospital.
