François Fillon: A Distinguished French Politician
François Fillon (born March 4, 1954, in Le Mans, Sarthe) is a French statesman and politician who has held various high-ranking positions in the government.
Early Career
Fillon began his political career in 1993 as Minister of Higher Education and Research in the Balladur government. He subsequently served as Minister of Postal Services and Information Technology in the Juppé government from May to November 1995.
Ministerial Positions
In 2002, Fillon was appointed Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Solidarity in the Raffarin government. From 2004 to 2005, he served as Minister of National Education, Higher Education, and Research.
Prime Minister of France
On May 17, 2007, President Nicolas Sarkozy appointed Fillon as Prime Minister of France. Fillon's cabinet, announced on May 18, 2007, included 7 women and 13 men. Notably, it featured Alain Juppé, a former Prime Minister of France.
Second Government
After submitting his resignation on June 18, 2007, Fillon was recommissioned by Sarkozy to form his second government.
