Biography of Franky Perez
Franky Perez, an American musician, is best known as a member of the rock band 'Scars on Broadway'. He is also recognized for his solo career.
Early Life and Career
Franky Perez was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the early stages of his career, he became friends with renowned Cuban percussionist Lazaro Valdez, who played the congas. Later, Perez relocated to Miami, Florida, with plans to move to New York City. However, while in Miami, he managed to connect with former manager of 'Van Halen' and 'The Black Crowes', Pete Angelus, who advised him to move to Los Angeles.
The Highway Saints and Record Deal
Following Angelus' advice, Franky Perez moved his band, 'The Highway Saints', to Los Angeles. In 2002, he signed a contract with Atlantic Records. His debut album, titled 'Poor Man's Son', was released in 2003. The single from the album, 'Something Crazy', reached number 22 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart.
Solo Career and Tours
In 2005, Perez released 'My 4th Of July', and his tour in support of the album included a performance at a rock festival in Cadott, Wisconsin. From 2008 onward, Perez joined the well-known band 'Scars on Broadway' as a guitarist and backing vocalist. This collaboration brought him significant recognition in the rock music industry. Alongside Perez, keyboardist Danny Shamoun and bassist Dominic Cifarelli also joined the band.
Collaborations and Side Projects
Among Perez's other projects, he worked with former 'Guns N' Roses' guitarist Saul Hudson, better known as Slash. Perez was a part of Slash's touring band, which also included John 5, Chris Chaney, Jason Bonham, and Teddy Andreadis. In June 2009, this lineup performed at the Quart Festival in Kristiansand, Norway.
Perez has also collaborated with Ozzy Osbourne, Henry Rollins, Tommy Lee, Billy Bob Thornton, and other notable musicians. Additionally, his collaboration with Dave Kushner, the rhythm guitarist of the supergroup 'Velvet Revolver', has gained significant attention. Their joint compositions, released under the pseudonym 'DKFXP', are a result of their collaborative work.
While Franky Perez has been involved in several musical projects, his work with 'Scars on Broadway' and Kushner remains the most prominent.
