Early Life and EducationFridon Aslanyan was born on March 13, 1938, in Yerevan, Armenia. He graduated from the architectural faculty of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1963.
Artistic Influences
Aslanyan's love for art was nurtured by renowned masters such as Veik Ter-Grigoryan and Ерванд Кочар. His artistic journey began in the workshop of architect Djim Torosyan.
Architectural and Design Career
Aslanyan is renowned as an architect and designer both in Armenia and internationally. His architectural projects include notable landmarks such as the recreation complex in Yerevan, the memorial to astrophysicist Viktor Ambartsumian in Byurakan, and the "Armenia" restaurant complex in Mordovia, which was recognized as the best USSR project in 1986.
Painting and Graphics
Aslanyan debuted as an artist in 1964, winning a national poster competition. His graphical works often depict cityscapes, inspired by his travels to various countries. He has also created a series of portraits using bitumen and transcendental paintings that can be classified as abstract art.
Unique Techniques
Aslanyan has experimented with unique techniques in his work, such as creating portraits using stamps in 1985. He also designed "national wooden faces" (puppets) in 1968 to commemorate the 2750th anniversary of Yerevan.
Design and Craft
Aslanyan has expanded his artistry to include design and craft, creating intricate pieces from seashells.
Memberships and Recognition
Aslanyan is a member of the Union of Architects (1970), Union of Artists (1978), and Union of Designers (1978) of Armenia and Russia. He is also a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
