Gabriel Ivan Heinze was born on March 19, 1978, in Crespo, Entre Ríos Province, Argentina. He is an Argentine football player who currently plays for Real Madrid since 2007 as a left-back. Heinze's father is German, and his mother is Italian, which gives him three passports - Argentine, German, and Italian. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and German.
Early Career
Heinze began his career at the Argentine club Newell's Old Boys in Rosario. His talent attracted the attention of scouts from many European clubs, and in 1998, he transferred to Real Valladolid in Spain for a fee of 2 million euros. After spending one season in Spain, he was loaned to Sporting Lisbon. Upon his return to Valladolid, Heinze played two more seasons in the Spanish league.
Career Highlights
In late 2001, Heinze joined Paris Saint-Germain, where he played for the next three seasons, appearing in a total of 119 matches and scoring 19 goals. In 2004, he won the French Cup with the club. Heinze then moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2004 for a fee of 8 million euros. He made his debut in the first team in a match against Bolton, which ended in a 2-2 draw. During his time at Manchester United, Heinze played 52 matches and scored 3 goals.
