Gaghk Davtyan Mkhchyan: Armenian Statesman and Politician
Gaghk Davtyan Mkhchyan was an Armenian state and political figure. Born on February 2, 1955, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, he dedicated his life to serving his country.
Early Career
After graduating from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1981 as an engineer-hydro-technician, Mkhchyan embarked on a career at the Yerevan Cable Plant from 1972 to 1976. Following his military service in the Soviet Army from 1974 to 1976, he resumed his work at the cable plant until 1981.
Public Service
In 1982, Mkhchyan joined the capital construction department of the Masis district executive committee as an engineer-inspector. He later became the head of the organizational and instructional department. From 1993 to 1994, he served as head of the social services allowance department in the Spandaryan district of Yerevan.
Political Involvement
Mkhchyan's political career began in 1999 when he became an advisor to the chairman of the State Cadaster Committee for Immovable Property under the Armenian government. From 1999 to 2003, he actively participated in party work for "Yerkir Hayastan" (Our Land).
Parliamentary Service
On May 25, 2003, Mkhchyan was elected chairman of the standing commission on social issues, healthcare, and nature protection in the National Assembly. He served in this capacity until 2006, when he became deputy chairman of the "Yerkir Hayastan" party.
