Henrietta H. Fore: A Career in Foreign Affairs
Early Life and EducationHenrietta Holsman Fore, a Chicago native who grew up in California, pursued a bachelor's degree in history from Wellesley College in 1970. She went on to earn a doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. Fore also expanded her education with studies at Oxford University in international relations and at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.
Early Career
Before her government service, Fore established a successful career in the business sector, holding executive positions in various chemical investment and manufacturing corporations.
Government Service
In 1989, President George H.W. Bush appointed Fore to the U.S. Department of State, where she initially served as Assistant Administrator for Private Enterprise at USAID and later as Assistant Administrator for Asia at USAID. After the Democratic administration took office in 1993, Fore returned to the private sector.
Return to Government
In 2001, Fore re-entered government service as the Director of the United States Mint, a position she held for four years. From 2005 to the present day, she has served as the United States Under Secretary of State for Management.
Personal Life and Interests
Fore is married and splits her time between residences in Nevada and Washington. She is an avid sailor and enjoys the outdoors.
