Early Life and Education
Gaia Weiss, a renowned French model and actress, was born on August 30, 1991, in Paris. Growing up with her brother, Arielle, in an illustrious family, Weiss' grandfather on her father's side was a Jewish man who played a pivotal role in chromotherapy and the French Resistance during the German occupation. Her maternal ancestors were of Polish descent.
Weiss' childhood was spent in France, the United Kingdom, and Poland, giving her the gift of multilingualism. She is fluent in French, English, Polish, and Hebrew. Her artistic talents were evident from a tender age, starting with ballet lessons at the age of three. At the age of seven, inspired by West End productions in London, she fell in love with theater and began taking acting lessons. Weiss' cinematic journey began in 2013 with her debut film. Her breakthrough role came a year later when she played Mary Fleming, one of Mary Stuart's four ladies-in-waiting, in the historical drama "Mary Queen of Scots." The film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and later garnered critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In 2014, Weiss landed two major projects. She was cast alongside Kellan Lutz in the lead role of Geba in the adventure action movie "Hercules: The Legend Begins." The film did not receive favorable reviews, earning six Golden Raspberry Award nominations, including one for Weiss' performance as Worst Actress.
The same year, Weiss joined the cast of "Vikings" in its second season. She portrayed the enslaved Torunn, who captures the heart of Swedish king Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig). Weiss reprised her role as Torunn in the third season of the series.
Among Weiss' other notable television appearances are an episode of "Outlander" and a prominent role as Ippolita Sforza in "Medici: Masters of Florence," where she supported Lorenzo Medici in six episodes. In 2015, Weiss reportedly dated actor Sean Biggerstaff, known for his role as Oliver Wood in the "Harry Potter" film series. Weiss was also rumored to be in a relationship with French actor Francis Huster, 44 years her senior, but she publicly denied the claims.
Currently, Weiss is in a committed relationship with Israeli DJ Dor Sadownik. Their love extends beyond the personal realm into the creative sphere. During the 2020 lockdown, they collaborated on a short film titled "In the Valley," which Weiss shared with her followers on Instagram.
Present and Future
Based in London for over seven years, Weiss continues to work with French filmmakers as well. In 2022, she starred in the horror film "The Vault," set in an abandoned bunker haunted by ancient Roman rituals and Nazi history.
