Galina Khomchik: A Pioneer in Russian Bard Music
H2: Early Life and FamilyGalina Khomchik was born on May 30, 1960, in Moscow to a journalist father and an engineer mother. Her family fostered a love for music and particularly bard songs, popular in tourist circles. Galina studied piano at the Gnessin School and later mastered guitar on her own.

After graduating from high school, she pursued a degree in Russian language and literature at Moscow State University (MSU). She graduated in 1982, becoming a teacher of these subjects.

Inspired by her encounter with Natalia Khorunzhina at a summer camp, Galina discovered her talent for singing. Influenced by renowned bard artists like Bulat Okudzhava and Sergei Nikitin, she performed at Moscow bard festivals and won several awards.

Galina became a laureate of the Moscow Bard Festivals (1982, 1983), the Berlin Worker's Festival (1984), the All-Union Bard Song Festival (1986), and the Grushinsky Festival (1987). She has been a permanent member of the Grushinsky Festival jury since 1989.

From 1984 to 2007, Galina worked in television. She played a key role in organizing the famous TV bridges of the late 80s and early 90s. In the late 90s, she hosted bard song programs on various channels and children's programs on STS and TNT.

Galina was the director and producer of music videos for Oleg Mityaev's songs. She also directed the television film "Theater of Communication. Songs by Oleg Mityaev" (1992). From 2004 to 2009, she worked at Radio Shanson, co-hosting the bard song program "Let's Talk" with Mityaev.
