Life and Education
Gasimbek Vezirovwas born and received his primary education in Shusha. He graduated from the Yerevan Teachers' Seminary and worked as a teacher in various cities.
Literary Career
In the 1890s, Vezirov participated in theatrical productions alongside other young educators in Shusha. He staged his own play, "Marrying Is Not a Sip of Water," in 1895. During this period, he also translated William Shakespeare's tragedy "Othello" into Azerbaijani and performed the title role in a stage adaptation in 1904.
Vezirov wrote several plays, including "School Education," "Don't Knock on My Door - It Will Knock on Yours," and "Marrying Is Not a Sip of Water." He also contributed articles on education, science, and socio-political issues.
Journalistic Endeavors
Vezirov served as editor of several newspapers: "Irshad," "Teze Hayat," "Ittifaq," "Sada," "Sadayihaqq," and "Sadayi-Kavkaz." He engaged in polemics with the staff of "Irshad," particularly with Uzeyir Hajibeyov, who responded with a scathing article titled "Answer to the Irshadite."
From 1914 to 1915, Vezirov edited the satirical magazine "M?z?li" ("Funny"), where he frequently criticized Hajibeyov and attempted to discredit him.
Later Years
Vezirov wrote the first review of Hajibeyov's opera "Leyli and Majnun." He continued to work as a journalist and editor until his passing.
