Biography of Gaspar Yurkievich
Gaspar Yurkievich is a French fashion designer originally from Argentina. Known for his sensual, contemporary, and urban visions, Yurkievich transforms his unique style into clothing, which he showcases in fantastical and sometimes provocative fashion shows. His fashion creations combine conventional elements with underground influences, blur the lines between day and evening wear, and embrace experimentation with cliches.

In June 2003, Yurkievich presented his first men's collection titled 'Pornographie' at the Georges Pompidou National Arts and Culture Center in Paris, France. The show, with scenography by photographer/writer Edouard Levé, featured four male models who, without removing their clothes, symbolically portrayed sexual positions from gay porn.

Gaspar Yurkievich was born in Argentina in the late 1960s. He moved to Paris, France, where he studied at the prestigious Bercot Studio, one of the top fashion schools. Yurkievich completed his education in 1993. During the early 1990s, he worked for renowned brands such as Thierry Mugler, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Jean Colonna until 1994. Yurkievich has since collaborated successfully with numerous fashion houses in France.

In 1997, Yurkievich decided to establish his own brand, 'Gaspard Yurkievich.' He presented his first clothing collection in Paris in 1998. Since then, Yurkievich has gained a reputation as one of the brightest fashion designers who have made a mark in recent years. He is renowned for his unique presentation of the brand, which always includes audacious stage performances and acts that attract attention with their eccentricity.
Gaspar's main clients are young men and women who appreciate streetwear and urban style with a distinct Parisian essence. The creations of 'Gaspard Yurkievich' are fresh, vibrant, and radiate energy. Yurkievich has never been afraid of experimenting. His 2004 spring collection for men made headlines, featuring several young men portraying a group of lustful twist dancers in sexual poses. While the models were fully dressed, the sexual undertones were evident. Yurkievich's 2005 spring men's collection also shocked the audience. At an unexpected moment during the presentation, a group of street dancers hired by the French designer took the stage to show how to properly wear 'Gaspard Yurkievich' clothing. They danced in a revealing and sexual manner, incorporating robotic body-popping moves and showcasing dance styles like vogueing.
While embracing innovation and technology in his work, Gaspar emphasizes that his experiments do have limits, and his collections will never include garments with three sleeves. Yurkievich offers a casual luxury style for men and a glamorous urban style for women. Among the brand's star-studded clientele, who appreciate the enduring traditions of French fashion, are pop music queen Madonna, princess Charlotte Grimaldi, enigmatic Icelandic artist Bjork, and actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
