Vera Wang, a renowned American fashion designer of Chinese descent, was born on June 27, 1949. She grew up in a wealthy family, with her father being a prominent entrepreneur who owned a global industrial company, and her mother being a fan of various arts and fashion. Her mother often took Vera to fashion shows, where she developed a deep appreciation for fashion and particularly for the outfits showcased.

Vera received an excellent education, attending Chapin School and later studying at Sorbonne in Paris. She further pursued her education by obtaining a degree in art history from Sarah Lawrence College. Notably, alongside her studies, Vera excelled in figure skating and even participated in prestigious competitions in 1968. She eventually made it to the Olympics but did not achieve the expected results, leading her to leave the sport and immerse herself in the fashion industry.

For sixteen years, Vera Wang worked as an editor for a fashion magazine. However, in 1985, she left her position and began collaborating with Ralph Lauren on various fashion projects.
