Early Career and Club AchievementsGastón Silva, a Uruguayan defender, began his football journey with Defensor Sporting's academy. He made his professional debut on November 8, 2011, in a 2-0 victory over Montevideo Wanderers. Silva played a pivotal role in Defensor's success, winning three Apertura and Clausura titles (2011, 2012, and 2013). In 2014, he helped his team reach the Copa Libertadores semi-finals for the first time.
National Team Success
Silva achieved remarkable success at the youth and under-23 levels with the Uruguayan national team. He captained the team in all his appearances. In 2011, he became the U-17 South American Vice-Champion and the U-17 World Cup runner-up. In 2013, he reached the final of the U-20 World Cup in Turkey, where Uruguay fell to France in a penalty shootout.
Senior National Team Debut and International Achievements
Silva made his senior national team debut on October 13, 2014, in a friendly against Oman. He has earned several caps and continues to represent Uruguay in international competitions.
