Early Life and Career
Gennady Khomich was born on August 12, 1971, in the village of Zapole, Shchuchin District. In 1993, he graduated from the Agricultural Academy and began his career as Head of the Agrochemical Department at the Voronovsky District Design and Survey Station.
Agricultural Career
In 1996, Khomich became an agronomist-seedsman at the "Vpered" collective farm. Two years later, in 1998, he joined the "Sovkhoz "Bolshoe Mozheykovo"" as Chief Agronomist. In 2008, he was promoted to Deputy Director, and in 2010, he became the Director of the enterprise.
Political Involvement
In 2010, Khomich was elected as a deputy to the Mozheikovsky Village Council and the Shchuchin District Council. In 2017, he was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
Chairman of the Slonim District Executive Committee
In March 2018, Khomich was appointed Chairman of the Slonim District Executive Committee, a position he has held since then. He is married and has two children.
Incident Regarding Intoxicated Driving
In August 2019, the Telegram channel "NEXTA" reported that Khomich and his wife had been detained by the State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI) while driving under the influence of alcohol. Khomich denied the allegations and filed a lawsuit. The Grodno Oblast GAI also refuted the accusations.
However, the founder of "NEXTA," Stepan Putilo, claimed that the incident had indeed occurred in July 2019 and that the subsequent legal proceedings were fabricated.
