Early Life and Career
Filippo Camillo Cardinal Granito Pignatelli di Belmonte was an Italian cardinal of noble lineage from the families Granito (paternal) and Pignatelli (maternal). He was born on 24 December 1851.
Ecclesiastical Appointments
Pignatelli di Belmonte served as the Titular Archbishop of Edessa in Osrhoene from 1899 to 1911. During this period, he held diplomatic posts as Apostolic Nuncio to Belgium (1899-1904) and to Austria-Hungary (1904-1911).
Cardinalate and High Offices
On 30 November 1911, Pignatelli di Belmonte was elevated to cardinal and became Cardinal-Priest of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri. In 1915, he became Cardinal-Bishop of Albano. From 1930 until his death, he served as Cardinal-Bishop of Ostia, the highest-ranking cardinal.
He held several important positions within the Roman Curia, including as:

Later Life and Legacy
