Infancy and Family
Georg Friedrich was born on 10 June 1976 in Bremen, West Germany, as the son of Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia and Countess Donata of Castell-Rüdenhausen. His paternal grandfather was Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia, and his paternal grandmother was Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna of Russia, the daughter of Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich of Russia. His maternal grandmother was Countess Annelise of Castell-Rüdenhausen.
Education and Military Career
Georg Friedrich attended secondary school in Bremen and later in Oldenburg. He graduated from Glenalmond College in Perthshire, Scotland. After completing two years of military service as a mountain ranger in Mittenwald, he studied business administration at the Technical University of Freiberg Mining Academy in Saxony. He holds the rank of major in the reserve of the Bundeswehr.
Business and Technology
In addition to his public duties, Georg Friedrich is a businessman and manages a technology company.
Marriage and Family
On 21 January 2011, Georg Friedrich announced his engagement to Princess Sophie of Isenburg, the youngest daughter of Prince Franz Alexander of Isenburg and Countess Christine of Saurma-Jeltsch. They had a civil ceremony in Potsdam on 25 August 2011. Their religious wedding ceremony took place at the Church of Peace in the Sanssouci Palace Park in Potsdam on 27 August 2011, commemorating the 950th anniversary of the founding of the House of Hohenzollern. The wedding was broadcast live on local television.
Georg Friedrich and Sophie have four children:
