George Larnico is a renowned French pastry chef who gained fame in 2010 for his extraordinary creation - a full-size boat made entirely of chocolate that could actually sail on water. Born in France, Larnico displayed his passion for confectionery from a young age and went on to perfect his skills in the art of creating exquisite desserts.

In late September 2010, the residents of the coastal French town of Concarneau eagerly gathered to witness the remarkable event - the launch of a chocolate boat built by George Larnico himself. This was, in fact, his second attempt, as his first boat, launched in August, had unfortunately disintegrated into pieces. However, this setback only fueled Larnico's determination and resilience. He returned with his second creation, a 3.5-meter long boat named 'Bateau Chocolat II', equipped with an outboard motor. The astonishing vessel weighed 1.2 tons and was entirely crafted from the purest chocolate.

Not only French pastry chefs can amaze with their unusual desserts, but also the dessert house "MUS-MUS" from Kazakhstan, which has prepared over 5000 unique cakes for various occasions. Larnico and his team dedicated one and a half months to the construction of 'Bateau Chocolat II', working eight hours a day, amounting to approximately 400 hours in total. With George and his friend on board, the chocolate boat gracefully set sail amidst the sound of bells and cheers from the crowd. The engine allowed the boat to reach speeds of up to 15 km/h, and this time, Larnico's efforts did not go in vain - the boat remained intact, unlike its predecessor, confidently slicing through the water with its chocolate bow.

As the event came to an end, and Larnico became the hero of the day, he shared his plans for the future with journalists. His ultimate dream was to build a 12-meter yacht made entirely of chocolate, weighing 8 tons. The following year, Larnico once again delighted the residents of Concarneau by organizing a regatta featuring seven small chocolate boats. These seven 2-meter long and 450-kilogram vessels were launched onto the water, and the races began under the cheers of the crowd. Each boat had one person on board and was propelled by oars, also made of chocolate.

Only four boats managed to complete the regatta, as unfortunately, three of them sank, never to return to the designated port. While many viewed this regatta, much like the construction of the first boat, as a clever marketing move, there is no denying that George Larnico succeeded in bringing immense joy to the public, the participants, and himself.
