Early Life and Education
Georgi Vazov was born into a merchant family in Bulgaria. He was the brother of renowned writer Ivan Vazov and general Vladimir Vazov. After completing his primary and secondary education, Vazov pursued military education at Junker Infantry School in Odessa and later attended Nikolaev Engineering Academy in St. Petersburg.
Military Career in Bulgaria
Serbo-Bulgarian War and ExileVazov played a significant role in the Serbo-Bulgarian War, where he distinguished himself in battles for the Serbian cities of Carbrod and Pirot. However, his involvement in the overthrow of Prince Alexander Battenberg led to his exile to Russia.
Service in Russian Empire
In Russia, Vazov became a Russian citizen and completed his education at Nikolaev Engineering Academy. He served as a military engineer in the Transcaspian region, where he oversaw the construction of fortifications and other infrastructure.
Return to Bulgaria
In 1897, Vazov was granted permission to visit Bulgaria, where he met with Prince Ferdinand I and other officials. He subsequently resigned from the Russian army and returned to Bulgaria.
