Biography of Gerry Beckley
Gerry Beckley, also known as Gerald Linford "Jerry" Beckley, was born on September 12, 1952, in the United States. He is a member of the folk-rock group "America". Some of the band's well-known songs include "A Horse With No Name" and "Sister Golden Hair". Beckley was born in Texas, and his father was a military officer. He started playing the piano at the age of three and later learned to play the guitar. Music has always been his passion, and during his youth, Beckley began composing his own songs.

Early Career and Formation of "America"
Beckley's first official musical project was the band "Daze", which he formed with his school friends. The primary musical direction of the band was folk-rock. After some time, the group changed its name to "America". They achieved their first success after signing a contract with Jeff Dexter, and later with Warner Bros. Records. "America" had the opportunity to open for Jimi Hendrix at the beginning of the 1970s. Their debut album, released in the early 1970s, featured the leading song "A Horse With No Name", which became a hit. The album was self-titled "America". In 1972, the band received a prestigious Grammy award for "Best New Artist". Another hit for the group was the song "Homecoming", which topped the American charts in 1973.

Solo Career and Continued Success
Starting in the mid-1970s, Beckley's popularity and that of "America" began to decline, leading him to pursue a solo career. However, in the 1980s and 1990s, "America" once again rose to fame. They toured extensively and participated in various festivals and fairs. During this time, almost all members of the band also pursued solo careers. In 1995, Gerry Beckley released his debut solo album, "Gerry Beckley Van Go Gan". He followed it up with albums such as "Gerry Beckley Go Man Go", "Beckley, Lamm, & Wilson Like A Brother", "Gerry Beckley Horizontal Fall", and "Gerry Beckley Happy Hour".
