Early life and education

Yana Angelopoulou-Daskalaki was born in Heraklion, Crete. From an early age, she excelled academically and had a good understanding of political matters. She pursued her education at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki.
Marriages and family

In 1980, Yana married entrepreneur Georgios Parthenis and they had a daughter named Carolina. However, the marriage ended in divorce. In the late 1980s, she married Greek industrial magnate Theodore Angelopoulos and became involved in transportation matters.
Political career

Yana Angelopoulou-Daskalaki embarked on her political career in the late 1980s, first serving in the municipal council and later being elected to Parliament. In 1998, she became Greece's Ambassador at Large.
Leading the Olympic Committee

Yana Angelopoulou-Daskalaki played a crucial role in Greece's bid to host the 2004 Summer Olympics. She successfully led the committee responsible for securing the games, and Athens was chosen as the host city. Despite initial exclusion from the original organizing committee, she was later invited to join by the International Olympic Committee. Under her leadership, the games were a resounding success, and she was praised by the organizing committee of the 2012 London Olympics as one of the most successful presidents of the Olympic Games.
Later ventures

After the conclusion of the Olympics, Angelopoulou-Daskalaki attempted to launch a new daily newspaper. However, the project did not achieve the desired level of sales and was eventually sold.
