Early Career and BreakthroughGediminas Arlauskis, a Lithuanian football goalkeeper, began his professional career with CFR Cluj-Napoca in Romania. During the 2008/09 season, his exceptional skills led to his recognition as the league's best goalkeeper.
UEFA Champions League and Russian League
Despite his young age, Arlauskis became Unirea's primary goalkeeper during the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League campaign. His outstanding performance on the European stage caught the attention of Russian club Rubin Kazan, leading to his signing in August 2010.
In the Russian Premier League, Arlauskis made his debut in November 2010, featuring in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Zenit Saint Petersburg. He also played in Rubin's UEFA Europa League debut, a 0-2 defeat to Dutch side FC Twente.
Controversy and Return to Romania
After failing to secure a regular starting spot at Rubin Kazan, Arlauskis' contract expired in May 2014. He openly expressed his financial motivations for joining the Russian club.
In the summer of 2014, Arlauskis transferred to Steaua Bucharest as a free agent. He led the Romanian giants to the league title in the 2014/15 season.
English Premier League
Following his success in Romania, Arlauskis moved to Watford in the English Premier League in June 2015. However, he never made a first-team appearance for the club.
