Early Life and Youth Career

Luke Castaignos, a Dutch footballer, was born in Schiedam to a Dutch father and a Cape Verdean mother of Italian descent. He began playing football at the age of 6 at his local club, Excelsior. At 13, he joined Feyenoord's affiliated club, Sparta Rotterdam, and eventually moved to the main Feyenoord academy.

Professional Debut and Rise to Prominence

On October 30, 2008, Castaignos signed his first professional contract with Feyenoord. After impressing at the 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, he attracted interest from top European clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan.

Castaignos made his Eredivisie debut on February 28, 2010, as a late substitute against Groningen. In the 2009/10 season, he played 3 matches as Feyenoord finished 4th.

Transfer to Inter Milan

Due to financial difficulties, Feyenoord sold several key players, including Castaignos, before the 2010/11 season. In December 2010, Inter Milan reportedly signed Castaignos for €6.5 million, with the Dutchman joining the Italian giants on loan for the rest of the season.

Goalscoring Prowess

Castaignos' first goal for Inter came in a match against Siena, where he came off the bench to score a dramatic late winner. In his time at Inter, he further showcased his goalscoring abilities.

International Career

Castaignos represented the Netherlands at various youth levels. He participated in the 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where he was the tournament's joint-top scorer with 3 goals. He also played in the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.
