Biography of Gilbert Dussi
Gilbert Dussi was a Luxembourgish football player of Zairian descent. He made his debut for the Luxembourg national team on February 24, 1971, in a qualifying match for the 1972 European Championship against the Netherlands. The match ended in a 6-0 defeat for Luxembourg. Throughout seven years, Gilbert played 39 matches for the national team, scoring 9 goals.
Early Career
Gilbert Dussi began his football career at the club "Red Boys Differdange" in Luxembourg. He played for the club from 1967 to 1974 and won the Luxembourg Cup in 1972. After his stint at Red Boys Differdange, Gilbert moved to Germany and played a season for the club "Röchling Völklingen" in the newly formed second division Bundesliga. He played 27 matches and scored 17 goals during his time there.
Move to France
In 1975, Dussi moved to France to play for the club "Nancy." He made his debut on August 8, 1975, in a match against "Valenciennes" in the 1975/1976 season of the French championship. In his first season, Gilbert played 16 matches and scored 3 goals, with his club finishing in 7th place in the league table. In the 1976/1977 season, Gilbert received more playing time and scored 15 goals in 36 matches. He even made the list of top scorers in France in September 1976.
Later Career
After two years at Nancy, Gilbert left the club and joined the French club "Lille," which was playing in the second division of French football. During his time at Lille, Gilbert scored 9 goals in 17 games, but the club was unable to return to the top division of France. Gilbert then moved to Belgium and played for the club "Thor Waterschei."
International Career and Achievements
In addition to his club career, Gilbert Dussi represented the Luxembourg national team. He made his debut on February 24, 1971, in a qualifying match for the 1972 European Championship against the Netherlands, which ended in a 6-0 defeat for Luxembourg.
