Biography of Grant Grigoryan
Grant Meruzhanovich Grigoryan (Armenian: Գրանտ Մերուժանովիչ Գրիգորյան) was born on November 23, 1966, in the village of Arshaluis, Etchmiadzin, Armenian SSR. He is an Armenian military officer, political figure, and entrepreneur, and the nephew of General Manvel Grigoryan.
Education and Early Career
In the year 2000, Grant Grigoryan graduated from Etchmiadzin University, known as "Grigor Lusavorich," with a degree in economics. Prior to his university studies, he worked in a collective farm in the village of Arshaluis between 1983 and 1985. Following his two-year service in the Armenian army from 1985 to 1987, he joined the Volunteer Squad "Erkrapa" as a fighter and later became the deputy commander of a platoon. He continued his service in the Armed Forces of Armenia until 1996.
Political and Entrepreneurial Career
In 1995, Grant Grigoryan became the platoon commander and the chairman of the Erkrapa's Etchmiadzin regional branch. From 1996 to 1997, he held the position of director at the Etchmiadzin Bread Factory. He then ventured into politics and became a member of the Permanent Commission on Defense, National Security, and Internal Affairs of the National Assembly from 1999 to 2003. He was initially a member of the "Unity" faction and later joined the parliamentary group "Aystan". On May 25, 2003, he became a member of the Permanent Commission on Defense, National Security, and Internal Affairs of the National Assembly, representing the Republican Party of Armenia.
Awards and Recognitions
Grant Grigoryan has been honored with various awards and decorations throughout his career. He received the "Maternal Gratitude" medal in 1995, the Order of the Combat Cross, 2nd class in 1996, and the "Marshal Baghramyan," "Andranik Ozanyan," and "Vazgen Sargsyan" medals in 2001 and 2003, respectively.
