Biography of Gregory Lemarchal

Gregory Lemarchal was a French singer who captured the hearts of many with his kindness, angelic face, and powerful voice. He was born in a town called Savoy, near Chambery. At the age of 2, he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a serious illness. However, this did not stop him from pursuing his dreams.

Initially, Gregory invested all his nobility, temperament, and warrior spirit into sports, particularly basketball and football, in which he played as a forward since his early childhood. In 1995, he became the champion of acrobatic rock in France. But fate's whims prevented him from pursuing sports at a professional level, and the only thing left for Gregory was to find another passion related to sports, such as becoming a sports journalist. However, this idea came to an end on July 12, 1998. On that evening, the French national football team won the World Cup, and Gregory lost a bet to his father, according to which, if the French team won, Gregory had to sing karaoke during the next vacation. Thus, a few days later in the town of Argelès-sur-Mer, Gregory had to sing Charles Aznavour's song "Je m'voyais" in front of a small audience, who were amazed by his talent. Ironically, it was due to his first passion - sports - that Gregory found his way into singing. The verdict was clear - he had a gift, and he needed to make use of it.

Thus began the pursuit of his dream for this young talent. Gregory participated in local competitions such as "Tremplin des étoiles" in 1999 and television shows like "Graines de Stars" in the same year, learning the ropes of the profession. He worked hard on his performance technique, took lessons, and never forgot his ultimate goal: to live through music. Gregory's motivation was extremely high, and for this, he even dropped out of school in the penultimate grade.

In the summer of 2003, during the casting for the musical "Belle, belle, belle," the future laureate of Star Academy showcased his ambitions by refusing a role offered to him by the producers. He was convinced that his place was not in that troupe. Trusting his intuition, Gregory continued his journey without any regrets. Provincial performance halls followed one after another, but a difficult year followed. Fatigue and unsuccessful projects led to doubts gradually emerging in his mind, and a period of inactivity and silence began. "I led a rather pathetic lifestyle during that period. I would go to bed at three in the morning, wake up at noon, and go out with friends in the evenings. I could see that I wasn't achieving anything, and I completely let myself go. I didn't recognize myself anymore. And I was drifting further away from my goals."

However, in the summer of 2004, the goals themselves reminded him of their existence in a phone call that informed him of his approval to participate in Star Academy. On December 22, 2004, his fate was decided - Gregory won the title of the winner of the fourth season of the French Star Academy (equivalent to "Fabrika Zvezd" in Russia). At 21 years old, this young man from Savoy became the first male winner in the history of the project. He received 80% of the viewers' votes. On April 18, 2005, his first album, "Je deviens moi" (I become myself), was released. The album sold out instantly throughout France and became platinum within a few months. Gregory captivated audiences with his kindness, angelic face, and strong voice.

In January 2006, he received one of the most prestigious awards in France - "Best New Artist" at the NRJ Music Awards. From May 9 to May 26, 2006, he successfully toured France, Belgium, and Switzerland. On May 29, 30, 31, and June 24, Gregory performed at the legendary "Olympia." In February 2007, he announced that he had to take a break due to poor health. Despite this hiatus, a second album was planned. In early April, he sang "Vivo per lei" with Helene Segara.

However, Gregory's health deteriorated, and in the second half of April, he was urgently admitted to the Surèn hospital in the suburbs of Paris, awaiting a lung transplant. Unfortunately, he did not receive a donor, and he passed away on April 30, 2007. Gregory Lemarchal was buried in the cemetery of the town of Sonnaz, where he lived with his family, in Savoy. On June 18, 2007, his second album was presented to the public by Gregory's beloved girlfriend, Karine Ferri.

On June 7, 2007, the "Association Gregory Lemarchal" was officially registered, dedicated to fighting against cystic fibrosis.

On November 5, 2007, the album "La voix d'un Ange" was released in Russia.
