Early Life and Military Career
Born on March 29, 1960, in Dubno, Ukraine, Ihor Politeyko embarked on a military career after graduating from the Kalinin Suvorov Military School in 1977. In 1981, he completed his education at the Leningrad Higher Combined Arms Command School, graduating as an engineer and specializing in the tactical command of motorized rifle troops.
From 1981 to 2004, Politeyko served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, holding various positions, including platoon commander, company commander, assistant commander of a military unit, and deputy commander of an aviation base for educational work.
Transition to Civilian Life
In 2004, Politeyko retired from the military and became a teacher of pre-conscription training at School No. 23 in Lutsk.
Political Involvement
In 2005, Politeyko assumed the role of Chairman of the Lutsk City Organization of the Union of Officers of Ukraine. In 2006, he became the Chairman of the Lutsk City Party Organization of the All-Ukrainian Union "Batkivshchyna" (Fatherland).
In October 2010, Politeyko was elected to the Lutsk City Council on the Batkivshchyna party list. The following month, he was elected Secretary of the Lutsk City Council.
Appointment and Dismissal as Regional Governor
On March 2, 2014, Politeyko was appointed Chairman of the Volyn Regional State Administration. However, his tenure was short-lived, as he was dismissed from the post on July 24 of the same year.
