Guido Daniele: An Italian Contemporary Artist
Guido Daniele is a renowned contemporary Italian artist who specializes in body art using vibrant colors. He creates his art primarily on human hands, folding them in unique ways and painting on them. His works often feature various animal figures, which have gained immense popularity.
Early Life and Education
Guido Daniele was born in 1950 in Soverato, Italy. He studied painting at Brera Artistic High School and graduated from Brera School of Arts with a specialization in sculpture in 1972. In the same year, Guido traveled to India, where he lived until 1974.
The Handimals Project
Guido Daniele began participating in exhibitions since the late 1960s, but his major recognition was yet to come. In the 1990s, he introduced the Handimals project, where he painted animal images on folded hands, similar to shadow theater performances. The resulting images were incredibly lifelike, original, and unlike anything seen before. This uniqueness garnered worldwide attention for Guido Daniele.
Expanding Creativity
In recent years, Daniele has further expanded his artistic repertoire by creating 3D paintings using the same hand technique. He has painted towers, churches, rainbows, and branches, all meticulously created using his hands as a canvas. His creations also include underwater worlds with seaweed and marine creatures, images of people, mountain landscapes, brushes of grapes, poppy fields, and deserts. Guido's imagination seems boundless, and each new artwork showcases his inventiveness and skill.
Beyond Animals
Interestingly, Guido Daniele can also depict other body parts, such as feet, in his art. One of his famous photographs features feet adorned with football boots, which, upon careful examination, reveal themselves to be painted hands. His elephants are particularly expressive, with numerous cracks and wrinkles on the skin of the hands, creating an incredibly realistic elephant texture. Additionally, Daniele's elephants often have a slightly melancholic and remarkably intelligent appearance. His photographs, featuring crocodiles, eagles, tigers, owls, and various types of snakes, are frequently used in advertising, such as watch commercials.
Current Life and Work
Today, Guido Daniele resides and works in Milan, Italy's fashion and artistic capital. He continues to inspire and captivate audiences with his unique talent and extraordinary body art creations.
