Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Sona Mikhailyantswas born in Baranovichi, Belarus, on September 2, 1979, of Azerbaijani descent. She has been immersed in music since her childhood, becoming the lead soloist in her school choir. Under the guidance of musician and composer Fyodor Zhilak, she developed her vocal abilities and discovered her passion for performing.

Vocal Competition Successes

Mikhailyants has participated in numerous vocal competitions, including "Malvy" (Poland), "Golden Scythian" (Ukraine), "Discovery" (Bulgaria), and "Yantarnaya Zvezda" (Latvia). In 2003, she won the Gran Prix at the "Yantarnaya Zvezda" competition, solidifying her status as a rising star.

State Youth Theatre of Musical Comedy

In 2000, Mikhailyants was invited to join the State Youth Theatre of Musical Comedy in Minsk. She trained at the "Syabry" studio under the direction of renowned artist Anatoly Yarmolenko, gaining valuable stage experience.

Breakthrough on "Slavic Bazaar" and First Solo Album

Her breakthrough came in 2005 when she participated in the "Slavic Bazaar" competition in Vitebsk. In 2006, she released her debut solo album featuring compositions by prominent Belarusian authors. That year, she also triumphed in the television project "Song of the Year" with her song "Daughter of the East."

Vocal Virtuosity and Recognition

Mikhailyants' exceptional vocal abilities have earned her numerous accolades. She has received the President's Scholarship for Talented Youth, the Medal of Francysk Skaryna, and recognition as the Best Female Vocalist in Belarus. She is also an artist and vocalist of the highest category at the State Youth Theatre of Musical Comedy.

Eurovision Song Contest and T ürkvizyon Festival

Mikhailyants has represented Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest national selection process several times, achieving top placements in 2006 and 2009. She also participated in the T ürkvizyon Song Contest in 2013, where she placed second.
