Early Life and EducationNorwegian opera singer (tenor) embarked on an unconventional path towards his musical career. Initially pursuing engineering studies in Karlsruhe, he later shifted his focus to vocal training in Berlin under the tutelage of baritone Konrad Sved, and педагог Frederick Husler.
Debut and Early Career
The tenor made his operatic debut in Kaiserslautern in 1919. Subsequently, he graced the stages of Mannheim (1920-1922) and the Berlin State Opera (1924-1926). In 1927, he marked a significant milestone with his debut at the prestigious Bayreuth Festival. That same year, he participated in the premiere of Ottorino Respighi's "The Sunken Bell."
Viennese Residency and Teaching
From 1929 to 1937, the tenor became a soloist at the Vienna State Opera. During this period, he also shared his knowledge as a professor at the Vienna Academy of Music, nurturing the talents of notable students like Otto Edelmann.
