Early Life and Education

Habib Abdullaev was born on January 13, 1912, in the city of Osh, Kyrgyzstan, then part of the Russian Empire. In 1936, he graduated from the Central Asian Industrial Institute with a degree in geology.

Academic and Scientific Career

After graduating, Abdullaev embarked on a distinguished academic career. He taught at the Moscow Geological Exploration Institute and the Central Asian Polytechnic Institute. In 1947, he was elected as an Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR. From 1956 to 1962, he served as President of the Academy.

Abdullaev made significant contributions to the field of petrology and ore deposits. He developed a theory on the patterns of formation and distribution of major mineral deposits in the Earth's crust. His notable works include:

In recognition of his scientific achievements, Abdullaev was awarded the Lenin Prize in 1959 for his work on the role of granitoids in post-magmatic ore formation. He was also a member of the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the Geological Society of France.

Political Involvement

Abdullaev's influence extended beyond the academic realm. He served as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR during its fifth session. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and three Orders of the Red Star.

Family and Legacy

Abdullaev's daughter, Ra'no Habibovna Abdullaeva, played a prominent role in Uzbek politics. She served as the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Uzbekistan from 1963 to 1971, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Uzbekistan, and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan for ideology.

In 2001, a station on the Yunusabad Line of the Tashkent Metro was named after Habib Abdullaev. However, in 2015, it was renamed to "Shakhristan." In Kyrgyzstan, schools and streets in Osh and Osha regions bear his name.
