Hamish Harding: A Man of Extremes

Early Life and Education

Born on June 24, 1964, Hamish Harding's early life remains mostly unknown. However, his childhood was marked by an insatiable curiosity, fueled by the Guinness Book of World Records. He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge, with bachelor's and master's degrees.

Business and Adventure

Harding is the founder of Action Group and chairman of Action Aviation, a Dubai-based aircraft brokerage company specializing in commercial superjets. His wealth fuels his passion for extreme adventures, which in turn drive his business ventures. In 2017, he partnered with a luxury Antarctica tour company to establish the first scheduled business jet flight to the White Continent using an ice runway. Harding accompanied astronaut Buzz Aldrin on his historic 2016 visit to the South Pole.

Record-Breaking Expeditions

In July 2019, Harding and Terry Virts set the record for the fastest circumnavigation over the North and South Poles. In March 2021, he joined American investor Victor Vescovo in reaching the deepest point of the Mariana Trench. In summer 2022, he became a space tourist on the New Shepard suborbital rocket.

Personal Life

Harding is happily married to Linda, who shares his taste for adventure and is an avid skier. Together, they have two sons, one of whom holds the record for being the youngest person to reach the South Pole.

Expedition to the Titanic

On June 18, 2023, Harding announced an expedition to the Titanic wreck site in an OceanGate submersible. The submersible lost communication on June 19. Harding was accompanied by Dawood Hercules Vice Chairman Shahzad Dawood, his son Suleman, French aquanaut Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and OceanGate founder Stockton Rush.

Current Status

The search for the missing submersible is ongoing, with experts estimating that strong underwater currents may have carried it far from the dive site.
