Biography of Hamit Ergaliev
Hamit Ergaliev is a Kazakh poet, People's Writer of the Kazakh SSR (1986). He studied at KazGU from 1939 to 1941. He participated in the Great Patriotic War. From 1945 to 1950, Hamit Ergaliev worked as a literary employee at the newspaper "Socialist Kazakhstan," from 1950 to 1957 - as the head of the poetry section of the Union of Writers of the Kazakh SSR, and from 1958 to 1959 - as the head of the poetry section of Kazgoslitizdat. Since 1959, he has been engaged in creative work.
Poetic Works
Hamit Ergaliev is the author of more than 30 poetry books on various topics, including the life of Kazakhs before the October Revolution, the heroic labor of Soviet people in the rear during the war, and post-war labor, among others. His poem "Confession of Fathers" (1947) tells about the struggle of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War and peaceful labor. In the poem "On the Great Path" (1949), he describes the images of the builders of the Moindy-Chu railway. The poems "The Girl from Our Village" (1950) and "Your River" (1953) praise the deeds of ordinary people and tell about irrigation and greening of desert lands. The poem "Yaitskie Napevy" (1956) is dedicated to V.I. Chapaev and his comrades. Several of Ergaliev's works are dedicated to cultural figures, such as "Ayz Ata" (1965) - the Ukrainian poet T.G. Shevchenko, "Kurmangazy" (1962) - the Kazakh akyn Sagyrbaev, Kurmangazy, and "Songs at Dawn" (1970) - the Kazakh composer Akhmet Zhubanov. For his collection of poems and poems "Golden Chalice" (1981), Hamit Ergaliev was awarded the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR named after Abay (1982).
Prose and Translations
Hamit Ergaliev is also the author of works in prose. In 1966, his collection of stories, literary sketches, and essays entitled "Truth Sings" was published. Ergaliev was also a translator of foreign works into the Kazakh language. Among the translated works are the works of J.G. Byron, N.A. Nekrasov, A. Navoi, Nizami, Sophocles, Nazim Hikmet, Pablo Neruda, W. Shakespeare, the Kyrgyz epic "Manas," the Karakalpak epic "Forty Girls," and others.
