Biography of Khan Babaev

Khan Babaev was born on March 22, 1919, in the village of Seydakaran, in the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. At the age of 3, he moved with his family to Baku, where he enrolled in School No. 48 in 1926. From 1931 to 1937, he studied electronics at the Azerbaijan State Polytechnic Institute, and from 1938 to 1950, he attended the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Boris Volchek's workshop.

In the pre-war years, Babaev worked as a mechanic's assistant and electrical technician in various organizations. He was drafted into the Soviet Army in 1941 and served until 1946, participating in the Great Patriotic War. After his military service, he worked as the second assistant director of the lighting department at the Azerbaijan Academic Drama Theater.

In 1954, Khan Babaev married and had a son and a daughter. He served as the First Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of the Azerbaijan SSR until 1967. Khan Babaev passed away on May 29, 1967, in Baku.
