Heinrich Aldegrever, a renowned German painter and engraver, emerged from the prestigious atelier of Albrecht Dürer, the epitome of Northern Renaissance artistry. Born in 1502 in Paderborn to Herman Trippenmecker, Aldegrever adopted his patronymic surname in 1527, signing his works with the characteristic monogram "AG."

Forced Migration for Reformationist Beliefs

His involvement in the religious reformations of the time forced Aldegrever to leave his hometown. He subsequently settled in the thriving city of Soest (now known as Soest) in North Rhine-Westphalia. This became his enduring home and the place of his eventual demise in 1562.
