Biography of Helena Jonsson

Helena Jonsson is a Swedish biathlete and a two-time world champion. She has been competing in biathlon since 2003, starting with junior championships where she did not achieve significant success. From the 2005/06 season, Jonsson began participating in adult competitions.

Early Career

In her first season, Jonsson's highest achievements were two 16th places in the sprint and pursuit races at the stage in Pokljuka. However, the 2006/07 season proved to be much more successful for her. Representing the Swedish national team, Jonsson won a gold medal in the mixed relay at the World Championships in Antholz (Italy) as part of the first leg. In the final race of the season at the stage in Khanty-Mansiysk, Jonsson's nearly perfect shooting in the mass start race allowed her to climb to the top of the podium for the first time in her career. Furthermore, she finished in the top eight on five other occasions during the 2006/07 season.

Continued Success

In the 2007/08 season, Jonsson had seven top-eight finishes and achieved a podium second place in the sprint race at the stage in Ruhpolding. She ultimately finished 9th in the overall standings. She then became the world champion in the pursuit race in Pyeongchang and won a silver medal in the mixed relay.
